The GRASSI Museum of Applied Art is in the midst of redesigning several of its permanent exhibitions. tonwelt has been there since the beginning with its audio tours. The latest exhibition was opened in January 2010: “Asiatic Art. Impulses for Europe” showcases precious objects from China, Japan and western Asia. While the exhibits are fascinating in their own right, they also served as direct inspiration for the decorative arts of Europe. |

That’s why this exhibition area is positioned to open between the museum’s two permanent exhibitions of European applied art – visitors can already experience “Antique to Historism” with tonwelt, and starting in autumn 2011, “Art nouveau to the present” will add a fascinating look at the 20th century.
In addition to a regular audio tour available in German and English tonwelt has designed a special tour to let children discover the Asian collection on their own. The dramatic voices of six different narrators help bring the different objects to life, allowing each to tell its own unique story. The result is a spellbinding audio tour that is fun listen to – and gets kids excited about their next visit to the museum.
