Musée de la Toile

Located in the French town of Jouy, the Musée de la Toile is a small but impressive textile museum with an international reputation. An audio tour from tonwelt will escort you through the extraordinary collection, which is dedicated to both the world-renowned fabric itself and the history of the factory. Christoph-Philipp Oberkampf founded the factory in 1760 and counted the French royal family in neighbouring Versailles among his clientèle. His upper-class world is just as much a focus of the exhibition as the artistic designs and technical workmanship used to make the fabric into clothing, bed spreads and other household furnishings. Interviews with museum employees are incorporated to add further details of interest.

The elegant design of our audio guide is a perfect match for the exclusive exhibits and the architecture of the lovely Château de l’Eglantine, which houses the Musée de la Toile. Catering to local and foreign visitors alike, tonwelt has produced an audio tour in French, German, English and Spanish. This wide selection was made possible by the Thales company. And children haven’t been forgotten either. A leader in developing audio tours for children, tonwelt has developed a fun, engaging tour for younger visitors: a  lively conversation between a boy and a girl tells children all about the world of Jouy's luxurious fabric, guaranteeing that a visit to the Musée de la Toile will be an entertaining and unforgettable experience for everyone.
